Our Mission
Hindu children are the inheritors of one of the greatest
cultural, religious, and spiritual traditions of the world. However,
Hindu children growing up in Western societies are often not aware
of this great inheritance. The purpose of Sadhu Vaswani Summer Camp
(SVSC) is to provide an opportunity for the Hindu youth to explore and understand
the diverse traditions and philosophies of Hinduism in an intellectual,
nurturing, and fun-filled environment. SVSC is dedicated to helping
Hindu youth discover and reconcile what it means to be a Hindu American.
At Sadhu Vaswani Summer Camp, exciting programs are designed for our youth so that they can experience the vibrant culture of India, and participate in a variety of activities. In addition, campers will learn Indian dance, music, and enjoy delicious Indian meals prepared on site! Campers will be introduced to Hindu philosophy, be taught to conduct puja, sing bhajans, and chant Sanskrit shlokas. The most exciting part of this year's camp is the new location! The 2010 summer camp will be held near the scenic Delaware Water Gap at the Princeton Blairstown Center. This is a very special natural place in the rolling hills and valleys of Northwestern New Jersey. There, near the small historic village of Blairstown, is an unsually beautiful 263 acres of forest, lakes, streams, waterfalls, trails and wildlife.
Campers will participate in hiking, nature walks among the Appalachian Mountain trails, canoeing and swimming. There is an adevnture course, basketball court, volleyball and open areas for fun in the sun. This is an accredited camp facility that is operated by Princeton University for over 100 years that has been continually maintained to modern standards.
